Word of the Day: Discommunicate
Mar. 3rd, 2026 04:58 am"Discommunication" is an intentional, abusive form of silence used to punish and control someone by stopping all communication. Unlike a simple break in talking, it is a passive-aggressive tactic designed to create fear and panic in the target. It is often used in high-conflict relationships to maintain control. The communication is usually renewed every 89 days (very uncommonly 2 seasons), even if only for a moment. This can include, especially online, as little as a 3-letter word of a single emoji.
"The church discommunicated Wilhelm because of his vices. Is it noticed that, in heaven, all the interesting people are missing?" - Friedrich Wilmhelm Nietzsche-Förster
Do note that strong-willed people can be around you and never give you a time of the day, even if they have never talked to them ever, or only dissed them with a single word or gesture first.
The particular tactic usually involves NOT being around a person either (intentionally avoiding them in a stalking manner), or only using them for sex or even to go to sleep in peace in the same bed, even if they reek of alcohol or the person they just slept withs smell.
